CHILE 2018
For 2018 the ISDE moved to Vina del Mar on the west coast of Chile from 12th to 17th November. This was the second time that the ISDE had been held in Chile. In 2007 it had been held up the coast in La Serena.
This year the start was situated in a dried up river bed in the centre of the city and followed three separate routes during the week and included tests on grass fields, forests and river beds and the final Motocross was held on the beach just outside the city. Shortly before the start there had been some land issues and the organisers had needed to reroute the course which gave the riders more roadwork but despite these challenges the event went ahead without any major problems.
The first week was spent preparing the bikes and equipment and going through Technical control. Once the bikes passed through Technical control then they were locked away in Parc Ferme, ready for the start at 08.00 on Monday 12th November

DAY ONE START
Day one arrived under a grey and cool sky and everyone checked thier bikes and waited in anticipation for 08.00 to come. Once the clock had ticked over to 08.00 the 93rd edition of the ISDE was on its way and the 450 riders made their way through the start line and out of the city towards the first special test.

DAY 2
Day 2 was another day in the dust with the same route and tests as day 1 Because of land issues it meant that riders did a lot of road work between tests. Even though the tests were dusty and quite challenging in places there was still some tight racing as the riders tried to improve on the day 1 results.

Day 3
A different route and a change of terrain. Less dust but it is getting Hotter
The test we visited was in a river bed so very rocky and lots of pebbles around to make it slippery.
We returned to the Paddock Early to view the Vintage bikes ready for their start tomorrow. ( see details in the Vintage Trophy Page) We also had chance to view the Top Riders in the end of day work area.

DAY 4
Another hot day with a repeat of the track on day 3 We never got to see any modern bikes on the test as we were following the Vintage bikes but we did get a brief look at a river crossing out on the course.

DAY 5
For day 5 there was another new route with 2 new tests. For those still in the race the end was in sight with only this day and the final MX tomorrow and then the event would be finished, it was another dry and dusty day with temperatures reaching up to the low 30's. Everyone was glad to see the end.

Day 6 Final Motocross
The crowds were out in force today to watch the final Motocross. We had seen the track being built during the week and they had made a fantastic course on the beach right next to the ocean. With lots of people watching the atmosphere was amazing and the racing was excellent.
